Red Water, Blue Current is an exploration of the self as a hyphenate being. a being has been and continues to be shaped by endless influence. The project brings together fragments of the cultures I am part of, spanning cultural heritage, artistic practice, and community. By showcasing six emerging Asian designers from Parsons School of Design and casting members of my ballroom community, the final work centers the artistic process itself, one that cannot exist without a deep connection to culture, community, and lived experience beyond the act of “making art.”, all of which finds itself in a full circle moment.
